Soul on fire

Jer38:16. “As the Lord lives, who made our souls.”

The most powerful weapon on earth is the soul on fire… on fire for Jesus!

Ezek18:4. “Behold all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son are mine; the soul who sins shall die.”

I watched a movie (true story) that involved a young boy, age 10, who was burned over 100 percent of his body, and had less than one percent chance of living. A handful of people poured their life in to him for six months, and he lived. He went on to grow in his understanding for how God used his near death experience, to change the lives of many. His story became legendary. The boy’s life became highly meaningful and purposeful. It wasn’t just meaningful because of more time here, because it had far greater value than that.

It was significant because of his new purpose for pleasing and glorifying God. The boy gave God glory because he gave him grace to live, get married, have kids, and experience joy, even when circumstances said he should have none. This movie is inspiring, not just because of the boys survival. It’s inspiring because of how God used the boy to teach us how to be thankful and joyful because of him, who he is, what he has done and will do on resurrection day. The life path for Christians here, has a glorious ending, because it gives a glorious beginning to our life for eternity.

Pr20:27. “The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the heart.”

If we can for a moment, get passed ourselves, and think selflessly instead of selfishly, and see life’s big picture, because of God’s big truth story, we become a far better human, a far better Christian, and matter far more to ourselves, and to the purpose Jesus has us here for. A Christian life that matters most, is a life fully lived through Jesus. Living for ourselves has a brief shelf life, doesn’t inspire us, doesn’t give meaning and purpose, and doesn’t even matter long term.

Zec12:1. “The Lord stretches out the heavens and lays the foundation of the earth and forms the spirit of man within him.”

It’s the life that acknowledges who Jesus is, what he has done through the cross, and what he will do when he returns for resurrection of his children, that gives our identity, our hope, our significance and our inspiration to be bold, joyful, zealous and highly committed Christians.

If our soul isn’t on fire for Jesus, it should be. We might want to reexamine our relationship with Jesus, and reclaim all that he means to us.

The plaque in the kitchen of my parent’s house, said “come grow old with me, the best is yet to be.”

I need to live every second of my life, embracing that truth, and give all of me for Jesus, because he gave all of himself for me!

Gen:2-7. “Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed in to his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.”
